What do fireworks look like at eye level?

A GoPro Hero 3 drone was flown through a firework show in May and came away with some spectacular footage while the device remained undamaged.

I've seen fireworks at eye level before. One year at the annual fireworks display at Shadle Center (what we'd call a small shopping mall these days) one of the display shells detonated just a *bit* low.

The bottom third of the "sphere" was cut off by the ground. Watch the "stars" bounce off the parking lot was "interesting". At least the safety perimeter was wide enough. But being as I was right up against the rope that was about as close a view as *I* want to get in person.

Hmmm. Now I have a thought for a Whateley-verse vignette...
