Holy Roto-Rooter!

Guatemala City is NOT having fun lately - first a volcano 19 miles away starts erupting and scattering ash all over the place then tropical storm Agatha sweeps through and causes sinkholes, notably the 20 meter in diameter one below (not, apparently Photoshopped, alas).

Boingboing has an article on the subject here. There are links to historical sinkholes - it may look fake but it's not.

You have to wonder how deep it really is, and marvel (heh) over the fact that it swallowed an entire bulding.

The truly frightening thing is that sinkhole eerily resembles the holes the Silver Surfer made for Galatus' use.
