Back from the movies

As you might guess from the icon, I went to see "Harry Potter and the Antepenultimate Movie" today. Assuming you've seen all the others (or at least read the books), it's worth seeing. For once it may have been an advantage that you simply cannot put everything in a doorstop sized book into even a 2 1/2 hour movie, because I found the book under edited anyway. A lot of angst was cut out, and not missed by me. And that's all I'm saying outside the LJ cut.

Ok, stuff I liked:

I have to admit that one big reason I go to see these things is the Quiddich match - this one was a great deal of fun. I think the effects people are improving on these with each movie.

Poor Draco - he looked more and more like one of the undead the longer things continued on... The firefight between him and Harry was entertaining, but really, of all the times everybody would've been better off if Harry had been on the other end of the castle.

Aragog's funeral... and Harry's expressions throughout...

Hermoine dodging her date, Mr. Tentaclemonster. The temptation to turn him into a coatrack for the balance of the party must've been great.

Dumbledore firestorming the inferi. Tell us how you really feel, Albus!

I can't think of much that wasn't also in the book that I found annoying. Accordingly, I will stop here.

Me and Diana dubbed it Harry Potter and Draco in a Nice Suit. Since the Half Blood Prince seemed to have been cut out of the movie almost entirely and was replaced by Draco walking around in a nice suit. I was really looking forward to possibly young Snape flashbacks. oh well, at least it was a really nice suit.

Also, I agree. I think it was vastly improved by being cut down dramatically to be a movie. I still don't get how they're going to do the last one as two movies though. There just isn't enough there... which may sound strange for a book bigger than my head. But there really just... isn't. D: There isn't another climax.

I suspect we'll get the young Snape stuff in the last movie when we go through his memories. Wonder who they'll get to play him as a kid. As for the next movie, I've a horrible feeling what we're going to get is The Great Horcrux Hunt followed by a cliffie.

I was reading an interview with Tom Felton (who plays Draco) and the interviewer asked him what his real hair color is. He replied something like "I've no idea - I haven't seen it in 7 years." He was happy with this movie, probably because of that really nice suit. And the chance to mope about the castle looking emo.

BTW - your package is here. And did you want me to take you downtown tomorrow am?

They already had an actor play young Snape in the movie before this one remember?

I'm still up in the bay area, so taking me to downtown LA might be a bit much of a drive. XD

From the looks of his eyebrows and roots, Tom Felton probably has lightish brown or dark yellow hair. I do think it's funny though that he doesn't actually know. XD

Oh, right - who was it? (edit - looked at IMDB - it was Alec Hopkins; there's some discussion of him being in this movie, but since *I* certainly didn't see him, I suspect it was just filmed early since after all the actor is going to continue growing up...)

Yeah, just a bit - when ya coming back?

He guessed mousy brown.
