Aaaannnnd 6A finally unloads LJ

LJ Sold, hakeber rejoices in her predictive competence.

"We're also very happy to report that the Six Apart employees who worked exclusively on LiveJournal have all been transferred to LiveJournal, Inc."  does rather strike me as a trifle ominous...  But we shall see.

Oh great. A Russian company. Will have my credit card info. *Panics*

LJ doesn't use PayPal? Tsk. Whatever - guess it's time to be grateful I've never paid LJ a cent (though I was about to buy a lifetime membership when the Great Strikeout Kerfluffle put paid to THAT idea.) I'm moving to Scribblit in any case once I'm sure things have stabilized there. I'll be posting a link from my LJ each time I make a post there, for ease of continued communication with the folks in here.

Nope, I checked the payment listing and no Paypal. *worries* Which means they've already got what payment details I've put in.

You *can* make payments to LJ by paypal, but that of course doesn't mean you always have...

Meanwhile, I am SO glad I decided not to get a paid account. =};-3

Examining the server logs for my website, I caught a few refferals from an odd location. So I checked. Seems that LJ has been "mirrored" at mylj.ru for a while.

For example: http://kayshapero.mylj.ru/

And it's been around since at least March, since that's when the entry in my logs was from.

Of course SUP has been handling the Russian LJ for quite awhile, it's not that surprising. I don't post anything I wouldn't like seen all over the planet, so it's not that much of a worry. Another indication of the hamhanded habits of 6A, to be sure.. but the we've not had much demonstration of that lately now have we? :)

Hmm. My journal just gets an error page, looks like a 404. So they aren't mirroring everything. Which is good, unauthorized public-accessible mirrors aren't something I take lightly.

Well, it's likely "authorized" by LJ...

And this is what babelfish gives as a translation of that page:
