Somehow just drawing a line through 1984 doesn't seem enough... the only reason that didn't go flying against the wall halfway through was that it belonged to the library. So I returned it half read instead.

If I tried to read the various Dickens novels up there these days I doubt I'd get halfway through. For some reason I loved Dickens' work when I was in Jr. High and read all I could get hold of. Years later I came across a complete set in a thrift store, bought the lot, opened one and realized that this had changed.... Wound up giving it to a friend.
