Sigh...

Y'know, I'm not a lawyer, but I'd think a road in public use since the mid '20s might qualify as an easement... As neighborhood pest actions, I think this one takes the guacamole... As usual, I gather who does/did what to whom will be decided in court.

Either it's a public road or it isn't, had he pulled that here, the city would check their maps. If it's public road they should remove the gate and bill him for the work. There should probably be some form of legal action against him too.

According to the report on the TV tonight, it's not part of the city and is listed as being on private property. From the looks of the pictures they showed it's also a dirt track or near enough. Anyway, civil legal action IS in the works, and with luck will straighten things out. I can just imagine what the judge is going to say when he hears this one...

Frankly he sounds like one of those guys who gets a kick from annoying everybody around him. And owes far more than he realizes to the neighbors' patience. I keep thinking of the old story about the various body parts in competition, and how one of them proved itself "superior" by blocking everything else.

I wonder how he'll react if someone just goes ahead tears down the gate? It looks like all it would take is a tow truck.

And if it IS his private property, he could probably get them arrested.

Doesn't it revert to being public property if unprotected for long enough though or something like that?

I think he should have to pay for all the costs this has inflicted on his neighbors. Then charged with something. Not sure what. But something that would keep him in jail for a few days. Or at least fined something atrocious. I wonder if he got the right permits to level ground. You're not allowed to do that sort of thing even on private property without a permit. If the hole or mound you're making is over a certain size... Especially on hills or in the mountains due to safety concerns.

It really looks like this guy is just doing this for attention and to be in some sort of spotlight.

Personally? If something like this somehow happened to me? I'd break and or pick the lock.

Good heavens, that's completely insane.

That said, insanity is one of the defining characteristics of the human species, so.

I hope the court figuratively nails him to his own bloody gate.
