Went to see the above - that was fun. Tim Burton's gothy gloomy London, Sondheim's delerious music, everybody's acting, and who knew Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman could sing so well!

I enjoyed it, and my adopted nephew was utterly blown away by it. It is, according to him, the best thing Tim Burton has ever done.

I expect it will be nominated for some Academy awards.
Melinda Lee has a cooking show on KNX radio, and every year, she entertains suggestions for dishes to bring to an Oscars viewing party.

I think meat pies will definitely be in order. Not just any meat pies, but pies with a design on top. Say, crosses for the priests; books for the poets; miters for the bishops; swords for the royal marines; some shrubbery for the green grocers; sheep for the shepherds; and one cake with a two-pan balance for the judge.

Grin. Vicky and some friends of hers went to see it on opening night (midnight, to be precise), costumed appropriately. She went by Tudor House first and picked up an assortment of meat pies, which they ate whilst waiting in line.

Amen...
Who would have thunk it? (Rickman and Depp being able to sing so well, that is).
